Some dogs are born with physical deformities for a variety of reasons. It can be because of developmental issues while they were inside the womb, or it can be the result of genetic problems caused by irresponsible breeding. Whatever the reasons are, these puppies are abandoned not only because of how they look, but also because of the amount of care they need.
Chihuahua Born With Backward Legs
A little Chihuahua mix named Otto was born with backward legs. Otto was also very tiny and needed to be syringe-fed every two hours to survive. Otto’s foster mom, Melissa, learned about Otto when her friend from an animal rescue asked her if she’d be willing to foster Otto. After describing Otto’s condition and his special needs, Melissa was taken aback and didn’t know how to respond. Melissa thought that it was going to be hard, but because she loves dogs, she took on the challenge and took Otto under her care.
Melissa was shocked when she first got Otto. She described Otto as microscopic and that he was smaller than her hand. For Melissa, it was quite intimidating to make sure Otto stayed alive. Every little milestone that Otto hit was celebrated. Melissa taught little Otto to be more independent, which helped with Otto’s confidence.
Feisty Little Pooch
Taking care of Otto was challenging for Melissa, but after a few weeks, Melissa was thankful that she met Otto. Melissa witnessed Otto become healthier and more energetic as well as see his personality develop. Otto turned out to be a feisty little dog who loves to play and spends a lot of time cuddling with his foster mom.

Despite having backward legs, Otto didn’t seem to be affected at all. He doesn’t care how he looked and only wanted to be one of the big dogs. Otto doesn’t see himself as a small dog. His big personality and confidence are such as joy to watch. Here’s an amazing video showing Otto’s big and adorable character.
